So Plymothian, Top 10 999 Prank Calls in 2009

Wow, I have left Plymouth for 9 months now and this article below just struck me. You might not believe that even late takeaways and rare bird sightings are among the "emergencies" reported to Devon and Cornwall police this year. Not to mention pranks that was directed to the RSPCA as well. Over the year, 999 emergency operators have received at least 144,000 emergency calls, and some of them falls in the category of prank just like the ones listed below. For the sane mind, these pranks are...

Artemis Transat Event

"The oldest solo race in history, The Artemis Transat is a 2,800 mile race across the North Atlantic alone... Held every four years since 1960, the 2008 edition of the race starts from Plymouth, UK on Sunday, 11th May." And that is what this post is all about. I was out today to Sutton Harbour armed with my wide-angle lens, a Tokina 17mm ONLY. Feeling lazy to get my bulky Tamrac 5X out, I filtered down the needs to shoot to only a single lens, while abandoning everything else at...

Guy Fawkes & A LAN Party

Went to Dave's place again for a LAN party playing Ghost Recon. We have been playing it for a month now and we are nearing the final level of the cooperative mode that in 'Fierce Resistance'. Joining us is JX, a newbie who is catching up well in the game. We started at 4pm and nearly 7pm, CJ and Purav joined after finishing some business of their own. Being a 'virgin' in th game, Purav played alongside us in one of the toughest levels instead of coaching him in beginner levels! Judging...

Weatherspoon Gathering

Autumn is coming to Plymouth, and it was kind of a year end gathering for all of us just in case we don't see each other coming X'mas. We meet up in Weatherspoon having a quick meal, chatting away asking each other how everyone doing. It was quite stormy outside and we are all not keen on wet weather and therefore being here is like seeking refuge from the outside. I let the pics do the...

Faraway Guests

May, & Seon with their newly arrived bro, Jun Xiang arrived in Plymouth today to find accommodation in Plymouth. They stayed overnight in Dave's place and since I am having my off on Sunday as usual, it was the best time to meet up. It was nearly a year since we last seen each other. We went to our usual hangout, the China House overlooking the Sutton Harbour for a quick lunch and 'ice-breaking' for JX and the gang. With the Tan's here, we have had lotsa action archived in photos. They...

Moors Outback Cycle Ride

For the first time, I went for a cycling 'expedition' to the rural areas of Plymouth. Bought a bike few months before that, but only to get it assembled today. The bike is a discounted Sterling mountain bike which I got it for only £60 after pairing up with a colleague. The bike was red in colour which is a colour that I dislike. But can't do much about that as the choices offered are only RED. Damnit. I used to love cycling very much, 1 hour at least and that was during my schooling days....

Demise of A VC

As an ex-student of University of Plymouth, I was sadden that one of the high ranking officer of my old University was killed in a mishap while walking his dog. The person I was referring to was Professor Roland Levinsky, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Plymouth, who died yesterday, Monday 1 January 2007, in Wembury, Devon. Prof.R.Levinsky (16/10/1943 - 01/01/2007) Here are the excerpt from the University's website tribute to this honourable prof; Professor Levinsky, who was...

Primo Pasto del Italiano?

Prologue: The first meal of the year in style is going Italiano! Went to Pasta Bar located in Southside Street, Barbican. Never been here before as this was my first time stepping foot on this restaurant. It wasn't Ivy's as she has been to this premise once before. This restaurant wasn't actually in our plan. Our initial plan was to dine in another Italian restaurant near Tin Lane, around 200m away from here facing the waterfront of Sutton Harbour. To our surprise, that outlet was...

Boxing Day Outings Part 1: Lunch

I always loved to dine in China House because of its ambience and quality food. As for this Boxing Day, I'm organising a lunch session with the gang in that atmospheric traditional English pub. I called up the pub at 10am just to check out if they were open during Boxing Day and to my surprise they did, and we are not required to book. China House is NOT a Chinese restaurant. The name was meant to be that way to commemorate its past as a warehouse for storing goods from the Orient, hence the...

X’mas Bash 2006

It was the time of year again where all Plymouthkakis meetup. Old buddies that resided in other cities will venture down to Plymouth once again to celebrate Xmas with the ones still remaining in here. It has been a tradition ongoing for few years now among us Malaysians. In the early years when Malaysian students are populous, the party used to be a strictly-Malaysian party. As for now when Malaysian student are scarce, we have also invited mix nationalities to join the party as most of us no...
