Spontaneous Gluttony

We all went spontaneously nuts for a meal for a spontaneous raw ingredient selecting, spontaneous queuing, spontaneous cooking and spontaneous feasting! The place I am referring to was Cuisine Spontanee' located at the heart of Sutton Harbour with lots of posh apartments and restaurant overlooking the marina. It's my debut visit and the rest of the gang has visited this place before. The gathering this time was organised by CJ in conjunction of Chinese New Year (maybe?) since we haven't got...

Sugarcaned Closing

For the Hokkiens, yesterday was the last day of the Chinese New year celebration although the actual period was 15 days for other Chinese clans. The 9th day celebration was known to the Hokkiens as 'Bai Tian Gong' (拜天公) which literally means 'praying the Heaven God'. Growing up in a close-knit traditional Hokkien family, my childhood memories of 'Bai Tian Kong' can be regarded as one of my sweetest memories during those days. The evening before the prayers at midnight, I will help...

Geek Meet @ The Hub

Behind the geekiness, none of us knew that Joerg can do MC-ing. His passion towards drum & bass music brings us to The Hub, a club on the quiet back lane of Bath Street on Plymouth clubland stretch - the infamous Union Street. And there is where geeks meetup. All the omniscient IT guys, computer hardware and electronic fanatics gather for a session of techno, house and euro trance music. You'll be surprised when geeks had some weird cool taste in music though! Introducing MC...

Plymothian Gong Xi

2007 was the dullest CNY I ever had - no gatherings, no potlucks, no dine-ins, no photo shoots, no memories. I only got my mandarin oranges, some CNY tong-tong-chang mp3 songs, an IDD call card to call home, 'xin nian kuai le' wishes from Chinese friends when clock strikes 12 midnight, and a complementary angpow (red packets) worth £20 from boss to cure my CNY homesickness. And yet, for the first time in Plymouth, the Chinese community was allowed to organise an open-air celebration in the...

Scoutism 4 Life

On my honour I promise that I will do my best, 1. To do my duty to God, King and country 2. To help others at all times 3. To obey the scout laws WOSM highlighted today in their website; Scouts and Guides Spirit Flame Kenya, 22 February 2007 - Today in Nyeri, Kenya, several thousand Scouts gathered at the grave of Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, to light a flame which will cross Africa and Europe, as part of the Movement's Centenary celebrations. On July 31st 2007...

恭喜发财!!

新年快乐 people! Seems like I'm gonna be celebrating CNY away from home again for 2 years now. Damn, I hate the feel as CNY was my the only festivities that meant so much for me. Been growing up in a traditional family where the CNY season is a much awaited season, although the downside is splurging lotsa money buying new clothings or stuffs. The best part was the spring cleaning and helping parents with the chores which I never miss taking part doing it voluntarily. Dig those?...

Happy Valued-Times

So what Valentine means to you? An ideal candle lite dinner in the evenings? A stroll in the park witnessing sunset? Or a date in the cinema? Many might see it as a day to celebrate your love with your lahlings, and boiboi's; a day to get mushy-mushy and jiwang-jiwang or losing virginity for your first time (like the media claimed). As for me if you got a loved one, you better treat this day as a Happy Valued-Time. I'm saying this is because this as this is the day that gonna' remind...
