Tribute To Gerald Levert

I was shocked to have found out that Gerald Levert had died from heart attack in his sleep just a while ago via an R&B blogger and CNN. Gerald Levert was one of American R&B legend that hailed from the group, LSG ("Round & Round", "My Body"), a popular R&B band from the 80's that consists of bandmates - Keith Sweat ("Twisted", "Nobody") and Johnny Gill ("My, My, My", "Quiet Time To Play") who paved their way into R&B's phenomenal scene in the late 80's to this day.

It was indeed a sad day for the R&B scene as Levert, died young at the age of 40 was a gem of mushy R&B slowjams that every man wanna bed his woman with. From songs like "Better Talk It Out", "Baby I'm Ready and "Men Like Us", these slowjams will definitely mellow every woman with his harmonious, sexy and sultry soulful voice. He is next to Barry White when comes to 'how you gon' treat yo' woman right'; they were definitely the kings.

LSG - as a group.

I have known LSG in the 90's as an odd Chinese secondary schoolboy listening to black slow jams while others are hooked-up with the mainstream pop culture. Only then I got to know Levert, Keith Sweat from his famous song 'Twisted' and soon, Johnny Gill - 'My, My, My', which was my personal favorite. Levert and gang was definitely legends back in those old skool days, when MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice was at their height of their popularity too.

He's gone, and I will definitely have my solemn tributes playing his tracks with my iTunes with his personal jams and his classics from the LSG days of the 80's. My favorite dozen from his albums - past and present so far;

1. "Closure" (my uber favorite!)
