Short Trip to Edgecumbe

I went with the fellas to Edgecumbe for a photoshoot. Our objective is to shoot macro but I forgot my tripod. Fuck big time. And I have to rely on the steadiness of my handhelding skills. It ain't easy. But luckily the instant brunch that we had before did boost the 'stability' a little bit. The sun was right on top of our heads, 90 degrees cos it's noon. LCD became so misleading with all the glare. For almost every shot I need to run below a shady tree to check. I screwed 30% of my whole...

Lens Sweeping

Swept some lens again, this time a Canon 50mm f/1.4 and a Sigma 105mm macro lens in ebay. Got an awesome deal, almost half the price of RRP. Thanks to my addiction to lenses now, I am splurging money more than before. Since photography is an expensive hobby, I am hoping that these purchases are worthwhile for present and future. I am not sure when will my interest last, but hoping that it will be sometime before retiring from this. With continuous EOS bodies being released every quarterly,...

Cornwall Photo Shoot

So my DSLR is one month old now and I am decided to take them out for a treat, a photography treat and a weekend stroll in Cornwall with Dave. We crossed to Cornwall via Devonport and drove to Freathy & Whitsand Bay before ending up in Cawsand & Kingsand It was my first time in Cawsand & Kingsand. It was really small town build side by side divided by a cliff on Kingsand's end. From the to you can see the beach and houses. It was an ideal spot for weekend walks. I manage to...

Bad Shooting

I went to Mount Edgecumbe today with Dave for another session of test shooting with my camera. The weather was alright as it was the longest sunny day in this week. This was the opportunity that I have been looking forward for as previous weeks had been terrible with spells and showers throughout the day and night as we are still officially sill in the winter season. Our drive took us to the coast of Freathy, Withsand Bay - our favorite place for summer picnics. Instead of walking down the...

1st Photo Shoot

Since my DSLR came in December, it is almost impossible to find a chance to go for a shoot. Only until January, when the weather was a little calmer, I made this move by inviting SL, a pal who is my immediate mentor to go for a shoot. Though it was a bit sunny, but the weather shifting was instantaneous that almost each hour became unpredictable. We took this challenge to put our best bet and hoping that there's no downpour while we were out. I made the escapade past noon when the sun is...

Photo Dilemma

On my way home from work I stopped by at the minimart to buy some stuff. As always, I will grab a copy of my favorite computer magazine Micromart before proceeding to checkout. To my disappointment, the mag was sold out today. Feeling unsatisfied of not being able to grab any readables, I intentionally browsed through the neighbouring shelves randomly on almost any magazine just to try picking some potential substitute, and after few minutes struggling with my indecisiveness, my hands landed...

Random Pics: 28/7/07

Some randoms again with some horsey theme. Well, it was just a day after my birthday anyway and the theme does relate to my zodiac. Was born in the year of the Horse, therefore was trying some shots on this orangey-salt moulded-horsey using the natural light and soft-shoot effect. To get average crispness on your N95, shots try not to use any flash at all. Use macro (Close-Up Mode), disable flash, image setup change to cloudy so to 'lie' the focal mechanism to behave as if you have no...

Hokkien With Cams

This is what happens when a Hokkien fella invested in a good camera and get firsthand on photography struggling to take a good shot only to be hampered by some minor distraction. Credits to Sharon for circulating the...
