Puduraya-LCCT-Telaga Harbour, Langkawi

I left early today making way to LCCT. This is my first time actually 'trying' out a coach ride to LCCT. Woke up as early as 6.30am to ready myself. I had with me is 2 bags - a large and regular. Large one contains clothes and toiletries while the second one is packed with my gadgets - lappie and DSLR. So, I boarded my coach for the 9am trip to Puduraya from Bidor. The journey was smooth and the weather is fine. I hopped out from the coach at around 11.15am, a distance away from Puduraya...

Bidor Got A Bypass Road

This is a lame hometown-themed blogging to announce a development in my, of course hometown! Bidor bypass that connects the 4th Mile, Bidor - Teluk Intan road (Federal Route 58) to Kg.Baru Pekan Pasir in Bidor - Sungkai road (Federal Route 1) has been officially completed in September after 1½ years in construction. The construction commences in March 2008 after the tender was officially made public the year before that. The contractor that was responsible for the construction is MRA...

Sis Birthday Weekend

This is my first time celebrating my sister's birthday since 10 long years! I did not see her grow up and in an instant she is now a grown up dame. It was much of a family gathering and for the first time we are complete with Yen in our circle as well. My sis invited 6 of her besties. Dave however couldn't make it because of his EP. Too bad he can't have his regular dose of sugarcane this time. As for relatives, only Tiffie, Wooi & Chloe with Uncle Choo & Aunt Siew Moi attended. My...

Belated Birthday

Happy birthday to me. I am 31 now, old and penniless haha. Well, I had things for a change this year, and it was the opportunity to celebrate my birthday with my family after 10 long years in hiatus. I missed the days of celebrating birthdays in England with my buddies. I never forget the memories of celebrating my birthday there during the peak of the summer where we were free to roam with our polo shirts and khaki pants grilling BBQ or satays in the open air at the compound of my house. Damn....

Keng Woo & Cherrie’s Visit

Keng Woo & Cherrie Li visited my little Cybertron today. He is smart enough not to get lost as my housing area does not actually appear in the GPS. My Google Earth plottings that he printed out proved handy at last. Armed with his DSLR, his visit is not just meeting me up but also to look and admire my Transformers collection. This couple is the second guest that visited my humble little home. Mom fixed lunch and desserts for them, and boy they were full. We never leave our guest with...

Pakatan Rakyat Dinner in Bidor

I attended the Pakatan Rakyat dinner today with my uncle and aunts who were staunch supporters of Pakatan Rakyat and big fans of YB Nizar, YB Nga Kor Ming and YB Gobind Singh Deo. This was my 3rd political ceramah in one month ever since touching down in Malaysia from the UK. This dinner is to celebrate the victory of Pakatan Rakyat in Bukit Gantang. The ticket was already 'booked' exclusively by my uncle 2 weeks before the event, and guess what, we are the early birds who booked the...

513

I wasn't born then but my dad was. Bidor was nothing but a small mining and agricultural town with scattered Chinese new villages, remnants of the colonial past. Township was situated at an intersection where two rivers meet and just up north of the intersection lies the main federal trunk road of Ipoh-Kuala Lumpur that divides the township into the east side and west side. The centre of township predominantly Chinese, dwelled in the west and scattered small Chinese new villages including...

It’s My Hometown Baybeh

Google Earth updated their overlay on my hometown recently, and I was so damn thankful that my hometown was mapped in their systems at last. I have been waiting for very long to be honest even since GE was released with their version 1. The map was actually a second overlay being overlapped on the existing one. The existing one only covers the east side of Bidor, that is the Chinese cemetery, part of the highway exit and all along to Kg.Poh and Gepai Falls. Whereas to the south, the first...

Duck Farm Riot

Quack! Quack! This news makes me aware of how aliens are behaving as if they own that motherfucking place. To be honest, I have lost touch of my hometown affairs for quite sometime now until... IPOH: More than 20 men, believed to be Indonesians armed with sticks, iron rods and parang, created trouble at a duck farm in Bidor, about 80km from here, last night after two of their friends were caught for stealing ducks. Perak deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm (I) Datuk Hadi Ho Abdullah...

Cemetery Picnic

This post is something from home - a Sunday cemetery picnic for the whole family! No. It ain't no April Fool’s joke, this is for real. It’s Qing Ming lah, the Chinese celebration for the dead and departed. It is also a celebration to pay tribute to our ancestors. For us is kinda like a 'picnic' cos it falls on a Sunday. I missed this occasion for 8 years in a row now. My last tribute to my ancestors was in 1999, just before I come to UK. Missed this occasion tremendously as this was a...
