Never knew myself can be a keen plant-snapper like flowers! Sounds daft and ironic, but I have simply developed a taste of taking macros on plain and boring plants as well. Not to underrate the beauty of the object, but I personally feel that N95 does magically 'touch-up' pics to make it really stand out.
Try use the soft mode and extended exposure. That will do the trick. Here are just some of them. Mind the flaws as the title says its 'random'.
